Summary of Teachers' Self-reported Skills in Using ICT Applications

The following four graphs summarize the range of teachers at each of the four levels of ICT technical skill: Beginning, Developing, Accomplished, and Exemplary. These graphs lead us to the following conclusions:

1. Overall, teachers assess themselves as competent in
• file management (61%)
• Internet searching (45%)
• basic computer operations (43%)
• word processing (43%) (Accomplished level)

2. More than 50% of teachers report not having any skills with
• web page creation (66%)
• database use (57%)
• digital imaging (54%)
• concept mapping (51%)
• videography/video editing (50%) (Beginning level)

3. More than 40% of teachers identify themselves as starting to develop skills in
• networking (65%)
• information searching (55%)
• email (46%)
• spreadsheet use (44%)
• videography/video editing (43%) (Developing level)

4. Teachers have taught their students skills mostly in
• word processing (43%)
• basic computer operation (33%) (Exemplary level)
