Funding of Schools 2025/2026 School Year
For the 2025/26 school year, the Manitoba Government is increasing operating funding for kindergarten to Grade 12 public schools by 3.4%.
This year’s funding represents an increase of $67.0 million allocated as follows:
- Increase of $59.2 million in funding to public schools.
- Increase of $7.8 million for independent schools.
Support for public schools includes:
- $53.1 million or 3.4% increase in operating support.
- $6.0 million increase in capital support, which primarily includes principal and interest payments on capital projects.
- A total of $30 million to continue and build on the universal nutrition program, and $3 million for the smaller class size initiative.
These increases bring the total investment in public schools for the 2025/26 school year to $1.8 billion, and continues government’s commitment to provide stable and predictable funding that keeps up with enrolment and student needs.
The increase in operating grants continues and builds on the provincial School Nutrition Program, flowing $30 million in provincial support and $6.7 million in federal support to Manitoba schools.
The Community Schools Program is expanding to an additional five schools to make sure students from high-needs areas have the supports they need to succeed.
