Manitoba’s Adult Learning Centres and Adult Literacy Programs continue to be a priority for the Province and play a vital role in helping to reach the goals outlined in Manitoba’s Skills, Talent, and Knowledge Strategy. One of the strategy’s main goals is to ensure we have the right people with the right skills, talents, and knowledge at the right time to rebound from the effects of the pandemic and support economic resilience and growth. Adult Learning and Literacy has established a working committee with regional representation from its stakeholders. This committee will assist the branch in achieving its goals.

The working committee will assist the branch with several initiatives that will help to reduce red tape and administrative burden, increase transparency, and transform and modernize the way we work. Adult Learning and Literacy is committed to engaging our stakeholders as we review current reporting processes, tools and procedures and develop modernized reporting tools, processes and procedures. Adult Learning and Literacy is committed to modernizing its business processes, and developing a sustainable adult education system in Manitoba for years to come.

Adult educators throughout Manitoba are encouraged to reach out to the committee members and to check this page regularly for updates. Adult Learning and Literacy’s focus is creating an adult education system in Manitoba that is responsive to adult learners, is financially sustainable, efficient and streamlined, yet innovative and flexible. The system will be client centered, with intentional pathways and transitions to post-secondary education and the labour market. It will be accountable, and results based, driven by appropriate data with continuous improvement strategies built in so that it remains current and responsive.
