Funded Independent Schools
In Manitoba, parents may choose to send their children to a funded independent school.
The Independent and International Education Unit (IIEU) within Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning (the Department) monitors and supports funded independent schools throughout the province.
Funded independent schools must be legally incorporated, employ certified teachers and teach the Manitoba curriculum. In order for independent schools to be eligible for funding, the Department requires schools to comply with the requisite regulations and policies for a two year waiting period for funding, and for every year thereafter that the school continues to operate.
