I’m currently a high school student. What international study experiences are available to me?
School-Based Programs

As a high school student in Manitoba, the easiest way to have an international study experience is through a school-based program. School-based programs are planned and operated by your school. A few examples might include:

  • a senior class trip to Europe
  • an exchange program between your high school and a high school in Japan
  • a volunteer trip to El Salvador

Talk to your guidance counselor to find out what type of school-based programs your high school offers.

Independent Programs

As a high school student, planning a study abroad trip through a reputable organization may be an option available to you. Work with your parent, teacher or guidance counselor to research, plan, and budget your study abroad experience.

Some programs may be supported by foundations or private organizations. See if grants or scholarships may be available to assist you with covering the cost of your study abroad experience. For example, Rotary Clubsexternal website will often host students during a study abroad exchange, reducing the cost of accommodation.
