Manitoba's Global Competencies

Reflective Questions for Teachers

Print Version (pdf document 538 KB)

This resource supports educators as they reflect on and strengthen their own capacity within each competency. Additionally, these questions guide teachers in planning classroom learning experiences that intentionally provide learners with opportunities where they can develop their global competencies.

Reflecting on my own creativity:

  • What does creativity mean to me? How am I creative?
  • How do I model creativity for learners? How do I model risk taking?
  • How do I come up with new ideas?
  • What are the steps I take in making my ideas become a reality?
  • When I am creating something new, how do I move through roadblocks or challenges?

Reflecting on my classroom practice:

  • What strategies do I share with learners to generate ideas and solve problems?
  • How do I encourage learners to be curious? How do I encourage learners to try new things, take risks, and overcome obstacles?
  • Where is the place in my programming for play and/or experimentation?
  • What opportunities do I provide for learners to work through the creative process and create multiple modes of representing their learning?
  • How do I create space for learners to refine and revise their thinking and work? How do they provide feedback for each other? How do I provide feedback for learners as they work through the creative process?
