Manitoba's Global Competencies

Reflective Questions for Teachers

Print Version (pdf document 555 KB)

This resource supports educators as they reflect on and strengthen their own capacity within each competency. Additionally, these questions guide teachers in planning classroom learning experiences that intentionally provide learners with opportunities where they can develop their global competencies.

Reflecting on my own communication:

  • What do I do well when communicating with others? What am I still working on or would like to develop further?
  • How do I model effective communication for my learning community? What more can I do?

Reflecting on my classroom practice:

  • What modes of communication do I use most frequently in my classroom? What others can I enhance?
  • What opportunities do I regularly provide for learners to communicate their learning in a variety of modes?
  • How might I explicitly teach metacognitive strategies or thinking routines to help learners communicate their understanding and make their thinking more visible?
  • How might I support learners to seek to understand others’ messages through active listening and questioning?
  • How might I include purposeful dialogues to build relationships and deepen understanding?
