Digital Assessment Library

Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning provides access to Pearson Canada K-12 Digital Assessment Library (DAL) for all school divisions/districts in Manitoba. The DAL provides access to screening tools and assessments in areas such as ability, achievement, behaviour, cognitive/executive functioning, developmental, mental health, motor and sensory, and speech and language, which can be administered to students by teachers and school clinicians.

The DAL supports school divisions/districts to meet the Standards for Appropriate Educational Programming in Manitoba (2022) (PDF Document 482 KB) in Early Identification and Assessment.

Early identification is the process used to identify students with diverse learning needs and abilities in preschool, Kindergarten, the Early Years, or as early as possible before or after their entry into school.

Assessment is critical to the early identification of diverse learning needs and abilities. Teachers use classroom-based assessment to determine how students are progressing and to guide and improve instruction. Specialized assessments are conducted by qualified practitioners on an individual basis to determine what factors are affecting the student’s learning and what approaches would assist the student to meet the learning expectations in the classroom.

School and school division/district staff should contact their school division/district DAL Champion to request access to the DAL.
